Great food and Toe Tappin' Music @ Bib's

Everyone who has been to Bib's on a Friday or Saturday night has enjoyed a great meal accompanied by the toe tappin' tunes played by Joe over in the corner. For almost two years now Bib's has enjoyed having it's favorite guitarist provide great music for the customers. His own renditions of songs such as "My Girl," "Lean on Me," Stand by Me," and of course "Tequila" have become familiar sounds of the weekend nightlife of Bib's Downtown.

Joe says he began playing at Bib's in early 2009, shortly after it opened. He used to play at a local coffee shop in downtown, but when he saw the traffic coming through Bib's he knew he had to be a part of it. He has been playing guitar since he was 12 years old, about 40 years now. He started playing publicly in nightclubs when he was 17, where he also was known to sing along to his tunes.

In 1982, Joe spent the second half of his military tour in Germany playing with the "Gospel Travelers Military Quartet." Upon returning home, he put together his own band called the "Front Page Band" which played together for over 15 years.

Joe's favorites to play are pop tunes and sometimes jazz. He also plays for private events like birthday parties or weddings. He is at Bib's most Friday nights, lunch and dinner Saturday, and also for brunch at Hutch and Harris, in Winston on Sundays. Joe says he also enjoys coming to play at Bib's on holidays when they fall during the week. Be sure to catch Joe on St. Patrick's Day when he will be playing at Bib's Downtown!!

New Menu Items!

Bib's Downtown is excited to announce that we have added four new items to our menu! The Jumbo Chicken Wings and Pulled Pork Egg Rolls, which were once only a weekly special, have been added to the menu full time. To the list of sides we have added collard greens and pasta salad as options.

Since day one Owner Ricky Seamon dreamed of selling chicken wings with the Bib's flare. A huge hit when they were a weekly special, Bib's Jumbo Chicken Wings are now available to you as a plated meal. These tasty treats come to your table doused in our own sweet and spicy barbeque wing sauce. They are smoked in our cooker, like the rest of our meats, then finished off once ordered. You can order them 3 or 5 on a plate with hushpuppies and toast. Ask for either ranch or bleu cheese dressing for dipping!

The now famous Pulled Pork Egg Rolls came to Pitmaster Mark Little one day as he was eating Chinese food. "I just wondered what pulled pork would taste like inside an egg roll," said Mark. They are filled with pulled pork, Monterrey jack cheese and Bib's semi-sweet sauce. The egg rolls are delicious when eaten with the accompanying relish dipping sauce. The plate is available with 3 egg rolls, a side and hushpuppies.

The new collard greens are already a hit! They are a hearty recipe from our Pitmaster's own family kitchen. These greens are seasoned with Bib's awesome smoked sausage and have a spicy kick to them! Try them as a side on your next pulled pork or brisket plate! Served with malt or white vinegar upon request.

The pasta salad is delicious new item added to the menu for those seeking a lighter side option. Tri-colored rotinis are tossed with red onions, bell peppers and a creamy Italian base then topped with diced tomatoes and parmesan cheese to make this side item an appetizing new choice.

Along with these wonderful new items, Bib's will now offer an adult chicken tenders meal and an adult grilled cheese option. Come into Bib's today and taste these new treats!

History Displayed....

Bib's Downtown is proud to announce that we have new photographs displayed in the back corner of our dining room. Customers can now learn about the history of Winston-Salem and view the very building they are eating in before it became Bib's.
The photography features the historic homes which once stood on corners of 5th and Spring Streets and a picture of the original business to occupy our building early in the 60's. There are also pictures that capture the people of Winston Salem in the 1950's.

Several pictures include ties to our very own Pitmaster, Mark Little. In one picture his parents can be seen parading down 4th Street and in another you will find his Uncle JR Little running Biddy's Soda Shop and Restaurant.

Join us for lunch or dinner one day soon and check out these beautiful memories and pieces of our city's history. You can also find out more information about the history of Bib's location on our website at Bib's Downtown Location History.

The Hickory Room @ Bib's

The Hickory Room at Bib's Downtown is up and running!

It's been a little over two years since Bib's Downtown first opened it's doors, becoming an instant success and the people's choice for smoked meats in The Triad. The remainder of the building was originally to be sold as retail spaces but with Bib's customers taking over the entire parking lot, the building owner had a different idea. Bib's owners began to brainstorm on what they could do with the extra space and it wasn't long until the planning on a full service banquet room began. "It is perfect," says Robert Moreau, co-owner, "there aren't many options in this area for a rentable full service banquet facility for around 100 people."

After a year or more of planning, designing and constructing, the grand opening was held in October 2010. Located on the opposite end of the building from the restuarant dining room, The Hickory Room houses seating for up to 100 guests on two levels. The main floor holds around 60 seated guests, while the Mezzanine level holds about 40. With the 5000ft. expansion, Bib's was able to triple the size of the kitchen in order to handle prep for the new space and all other outside catering and festival events. Owners Robert, Ricky and Pitmaster Mark Little called it "The Hickory Room" because of the hickory wood used in the smoker.

The Hickory Room features local sawcut wood trim and a  stone wall and stone fireplace. The floor is the original concrete, beautifully leveled and stained to a burnt yellow orange hue and the walls colored chocolate and tan create a warm feeling throughout the space.

The room has full audio/visual capabilities and features a large projector screen on the main level with two HDTV's on the mezzanine. Guests can choose to listen to music, play dvds, watch televison, slideshows or give presentations.

Bib's owner's vision for The Hickory Room is a "dress-casual" space which can accomodate anything from rowdy sports viewing to more formal wedding parties. So far Bib's has hosted wedding rehearsal dinners, sports game events, birthday celebrations and business meetings. It is the perfect spot for your event, no matter what the occasion. Bib's Hickory Room has all beer, wine and spirits permits and is ready to serve you. Pitmaster Mark Little has put together various catering specialties that you will not find on our regular restaurant menu. Delicious smoked shrimp or salmon, hand carved ribeyes, scalloped potatoes, fruit and cheese trays..just to name a few.

The possibilities in The Hickory Room are endless. We are excited to introduce this new addition to Bib's Downtown and we look forward to serving you and making your function a success. Contact Alicia Perry, Bib's catering manager, for room pricing, questions and to set up your event! Email her at catering@bibsdowntown.com or give her a call 336-575-4213.
